BLACK OPAL RING…. A$15,000.

 The opal was mined at our Jet Black claim. It weighs 2.4 carats. It is set in 18 carat gold with Diamonds. Our Jet Black claim was years in the making. Black Potch was drilled up by a miner with a drilling rig. He kept all the trace  he drilled in labelled jars but because it was potch he didn’t do any work on the claim and prospected other areas. Years later he went and saw Stafford Scot who owned bulldozers to see if he was interested in cutting the claim on the strength of the potch. He thought Stafford may be interested in the claim because there had recently been some good opal found in neighbouring claims. Stafford was cutting the claim next to his for another miner. I was working on some of his claims in a 50/50 deal and I was mining underground with a bobcat. Stafford asked me if I would be interested in chasing this black opal  potch from the wall of the claim he was now cutting. It would be a 3 way split between the claim owner Stafford and myself. I felt it was worth the gamble and agreed. I was to do the mining with a little help from Dave the claim owner and that was how the adventure began. BLACK OPAL RING….A$7500

The Black Opal in this ring weighs 3 carats. It is multi-coloured and very beautiful and surrounded by small Diamonds set in 18 carat gold.

The opal was mined in our Bits and Pieces claim in the 1980’s but only cut by Peter recently. The bits and pieces mine was named this because all the pockets found were small. The variety of opal was quite amazing and the quality wonderful. Several small pockets were found. Black Opal Pendant. It is  made in 18 carat gold with Diamonds. 

This magnificent 3.47 carat jet black multi-coloured opal was mined by Peter in his Jet Black claim at Mintabie around 1990. He kept it in the rough just to look at it and recently cut it and had it set. It is one of the best few gems from this magnificent pocket . Black Opal Pendant. The opal in this 18 carat white gold pendant weighs 7.9 carats. It is one of the best gems found at our very first claim (Spooky’s claim). Black Opal Sea horse. This opal was mined on the Old Field at Mintabie many years ago. It was carved by our expert gem carver in Bali. The opal weighs 35 carats and it has been beautifully set in 18 ct gold. It IS a most unique and special piece. There will not be another one like it. The price is A$7500 so is pretty much a bargain.
