Light Opal Solids
Opal solids. This section shows some of the large range of light based opal solids we have in stock and some of our solid opal carvings. Light opal solids vary from very cheap white opals to the best of the crystal opal. Peter spent many years professionally mining at Mintabie opal fields. He had several opal mines during this time at most of the main sub fields. He continues to cut magnificent opal from the rough collected from these mines. If you have a size, colour, shape or price preference please send us an e mail and we will respond with pictures of any suitable opals. It is very difficult to photograph light opal so in general the opal will look much better then the photos.Towards the end of this page are specimens of rough light based opal.

This opal solid is a multi-coloured stone.
It measures 18 x16mm and would be ideal for a large mans ring.

It is very bright and measures 30 x 16mm.

These boxes of opal solids have been incredibly popular and are a real bargain.
There is a minimum of 12 carats in each box and an average of 2o stones per box.
That is very cheap for this quality (We often sell several to the same customer in our shop)
Many customers buy them as give aways when they travel overseas and come back every time they travel.

This is a very big opal carving.
The carving is from a single piece of opal and has areas of very nice colour.
It measures 80mm x 50 mm x 30 mm and weighs a gigantic 440 carats.

This is the last large polished Seam Opal from our Crystal Valley mine at Mintabie Opal fields. The specimen is a thin seam of opal in sandstone and the colour is vibrant red/yellow/blue and green with great colour play. The specimen measures 120 mm by 120 mm by 35 mm and weighs 945 grams. This is one of the nicest 'pipes' of solid opal from our Rainbow mine in south west Queensland.
There would be enough opal to cut a nice size stone but it would be a shame to spoil the specimen.
It measures 60 mm x 50 mm x 40 mm and weighs 135 grams.
