All the black opal except the elephant carving comes from Mintabie in South Australia. The opal was mined by Peter and his mining partners. The bulk of the black opal came from our Water Tank claims on the Old Field or from our Jet Black claim in the Crystal Valley field. These claims produced many exquisite gems and some magnificent pockets pf opal. Peter kept his share of the opal and cut it over the years. Mineshaft has a skilled Goldsmith who has been setting the best of our opal for many years now.
