Light based opal is the best known type of opal. It varies from the common opaque white based opal to the rare and vibrant clear crystal opal. Crystal opal with several colours is extremely rare. Most of the light based opal in Mineshaft has come from our own mines at Mintabie Opal Field. Crystal opal 18 ct gold pendant
This is an exquisite opal......the best of crystal! It was mined more than 30 years ago and has only recently been cut by Peter and given to the gold smith to set. The opal weighs 2.8 carats and is a multi coloured crystal opal. The pattern is even throughout the stone and is one of our nicest pendants. The picture understates the quality of the opal as the three dimentional aspect of the gem is impossible to capture. The price is A$6,000

Big crystal opal in 18 ct gold pendant
This is perhaps the best quality crystal opal we have had in our stock for many years. I could not take a picture to do justice. The opal has all the colours of the rainbow and they continually roll as the pendant is moved. (Not only sideways but up and down as well). The pattern on the front has big rolling flashes. The back is more multi colour pinfire. The opal was mined at our Water Tank claim at Mintabie Opal fields in the 1980's and the stone only cut recently. The opal measures 28 mm x 15 mm x 6mm. It weighs 12.57 carats and is double sided. The pendant is made in 18 ct gold and has 0.45 carats of diamonds.
Crystal opal 18 ct gold pendant
This crystal opal is from the same pocket as the pendant above and also only recently cut and set. If anything it is a slightly brighter opal. It is a four colour crystal opal with a central rare turquoise flash overriding orange and yellow. The opal weighs 3.3 carats. To me this is the nicest crystal opal pendant of this value we have at present. The price is A$6,000

The opal in this pendant is from our Crystal Valley mine at Mintabie opal field. It is multicoloured and is set in a pendant that can go on a chain or a slider. The pendant measures 24mm x 18mm. The price is A$3000 plus postage.

This is our largest set solid opal. The stone measures 37 mm x 28 mm x 8 mm and is set in 18 ct gold and surrounded by Diamonds.
