These gemstone carvings are hand carved by master carvers. We use all types of semi precious gemstone materials and have carvings of all types. Mineshaft has direct contacts with several master carvers in different factories in main land China. We often use our own selected gem rough to make our own special carvings. We also have several carvers working on softer material such as fossil mammoth ivory and amber in Bali, Indonesia. The gemstone carvings here are just a small representation of our constantly changing stock. If you collect gemstone carvings of a particular theme, or gem material, send us an e mail and we will send you pictures of what we have. We will try to keep this section as up to date as possible so most of the carvings will be available for purchase. The postage fee is the actual postage rate we have to pay and there are no handling charges.

BOULDER OPAL SNAKE . This is a wonderful boulder opal carving and being the ‘year of the snake’ gives it added interest. The carving measures 67mm by 52mm by 41mm and it weighs 895 carats. The price is A$500. Click on the image for a larger picture. THE YEAR OF THE SNAKE. Ancient Chinese wisdom says a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means your family will not starve. This could be taken metaphorically to mean that a Snake could never have a problem with his family starving because he is such a great mediator, making him good at business. Or it could mean that a Snake would be willing to sacrifice his possessions, something the Snake has a lot of, in order to pay for his family’s food. Any way it is interpreted is representative of the Snake’s character and is a measure of the value he puts on his material wealth. The Snake is keen and cunning, quite intelligent and wise.

JASPER and CRYSTAL SKULL. This is a high quality carving with a well polished skull carved in the Jasper. The Quartz crystal cluster is very high quality, bright and sparkling. The carving measures 84 mm by 72 mm by 52 mm. It weighs just over 400 grams. The price is A$180.

King Tut. The labradorite used in this carving is the best. An unusual golden brown with a vibrant flash. This is a free standing carving weighing 183 grams and measuring 80 mm by 50 mm by 30 mm. The code is 20452124. The price is A$150

LIZARD in RUTILATED QUARTZ. This carving is done in very clean Rutilated Quartz. The needles of Rutile are a fine golden colour and very easily seen in the ice clear Quartz. The price is A$150. The carving measures 70mm by 34mm by 28mm and weighs 102 grams. click on image for a larger picture.

FOSSIL AMMONITE SKULL. This is a unique skull. When you look in to the eye sockets the inside of the skull has tiny perfect crystals of Calcite. The ammonite measures 79 mm and weighs 161 grams. The price is A$120.
